The DURFC 1875 Alumni Society is named after the year that Durham University Rugby Club was founded. The purpose of the 1875 Society is to provide a community to maintain the relationships and camaraderie, experienced by ex-DURFC players during their time at Durham and to provide a vital additional stream of funding to support the vision of DURFC in maintaining its position amongst the elite rugby universities in the UK Durham University Rugby Club, founded in 1875 is one of the most successful university rugby clubs in the UK and has a proud tradition, with many successes in the UAU, BUSA and BUCS competitions. Since its separation from Newcastle in 1963, thirty-five Durham players have won international honours, including
England Captains, Peter Dixon, Will Carling and Phil de Glanville and England World Cup Winner, Will Greenwood.
This tradition continues today, and Durham University continue to develop more Premiership players than any other academic university including: 
Josh Beaumont (2010-13) at Sale Sharks

Fitz Harding (2018-21), the current Captain of Bristol Bears.
Adam Brocklebank (2015-2018) and Ben Stevenson (2016-19) and current student Finn Baker representing Newcastle Falcons
Paul Brown-Bampoe (2020-24), playing for Exeter Chiefs
Jamie Adamson (2018-22) at NSW Waratahs and Max Pepper (2021-24) at Bristol Bears both representing GB 7's.
Guy Pepper (2021-24) currently playing for Bath, represented England A against Portugal last year and in current full squad for 2025 Internationals
This season is the 150th anniversary of DURFC and to commemorate this important milestone, the 1875 Alumni Society organised a celebratory weekend from May 2nd to 4th 2025. The weekend started with a dinner for 400 alumni on Friday 2nd May 2025 and continued with a match
